Ministry supports Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week through Road to JMFW – ANTARA News

In 2023, the export target for Indonesian creative economy products is US$26.5 billion, and fashion is a creative economy product that contributes the most to the export value, with around 65 percent

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry supports the execution of the 2024 Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) by organizing the Road to JMFW from March to September 2023.

This activity is initiated by the Trade Ministry and Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), with the goal of promoting Indonesian Muslim or modest fashion, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno elaborated.

It is also undertaken to boost the competitiveness of local Muslim or modest fashion in the international market, he noted through a statement, Tuesday.

This activity is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global modest fashion industry as well as realize Indonesia’s vision and mission to become a global Muslim or modest fashion center, he added.

“In 2023, the export target for Indonesian creative economy products is US$26.5 billion, and fashion is a creative economy product that contributes the most to the export value, with around 65 percent,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Digital Economy and Creative Economy Product Deputy at the Ministry M. Neil El Himam explained that during the Road to JMFW, the ministry will participate in seminars and curations in four cities.

These four cities are Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan, Bandung in West Java, Lombok in West Nusa Tenggara, and Padang in West Sumatra.

The ministry will also be involved in conducting incubation for Muslim or modest fashion in Bandung in cooperation with the Islamic Fashion Institute (IFI).

National Export Development Director General at the Trade Ministry Didi Sumedi remarked that the roadmap from 2021 to 2024 for JMFW had been created.

This roadmap was developed in accordance with the instruction of the president, who seeks to declare Indonesia as the global center for modest fashion.

The export potential for Indonesian modest fashion is very high. The Trade Ministry recorded that the export value for Muslim clothing products reached around US$15 billion in 2022.
