JAKARTA, April 21 (Xinhua) — Geared with telescopes and protective glasses, thousands of eclipse chasers in different parts of Indonesia gathered to watch the once-in-a-decade celestial phenomenon of the hybrid solar eclipse.
In the country’s capital, when the eclipse obscured by clouds wowed the excited crowds at the Jakarta Planetarium, the Muslims’ special eclipse prayers (Salat al kusoof) echoed through the city from several mosques.
A hybrid solar eclipse is a phenomenon during which both total and annular solar eclipses occur sequentially at one time.
