State-owned PT Angkasa Pura I, which operates I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, and the Region IV Airport Authority have conducted a ramp check to support normal flight operations and the G20 Summit.

“We checked the feasibility of the Ground Service Equipment (GSE) to prepare for airport operations, which have started to reopen a number of overseas flights and serve some international activities, such as the G20 Summit, and ensure that our services are according to the standards,” general manager of PT Angkasa Pura I, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Herry A.Y. Sikado, said here on Wednesday.

The ramp check was carried out on a number of ground handling service providers at the airport, such as PT Gapura Angkasa, Enggang Angkasa Sarana (EAS) Airport Service, Jasa Angkutan Semesta (JAS) Airport Service, AFM Aviasi, Sari Rahayu Biomantara, as well as Karisma Flight Support.

The activity aimed to inspect pushback carts, conveyor belt loaders, high lift loaders, baggage towing tractors, and apron passenger buses.

The activity was conducted by a number of personnel from Apron Movement Control (AMC), Aviation Security, and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) of the airport operator as well as some officers from the Region IV Airport Authority.

Overall, 42 GSE units were inspected. Furthermore, the permit completeness of 18 GSE operator personnel was also checked.

Sikado informed that the ramp check has become a routine agenda to make sure that aviation services are in line with the expectations of the customers.

The role of ground handling, with the support of good equipment, is highly required for smooth flight operations, he said. Therefore, it is important to carry out GSE ramp checks regularly, he added.

“Hence, I ask that all ground handling equipment be well-prepared. In addition, to welcome the 2022 G20 Summit in Bali, we will place G20 stickers on the operational vehicles to promote and support the international activity,” he said.
