Intellasia East Asia News – HK and Indonesia to sign 15 cooperation agreements covering finance and logistics

Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu continued his visit to Indonesia on Wednesday and stated that several pacts will be signed to facilitate cooperation with Indonesia.

He added that the 15 memorandums of cooperation will cover different fields, including finance, trade, logistics, etc.

Lee and the delegation visited the Jakarta office of the FWD Group, a multinational insurance company based in Hong Kong, this morning accompanied with Pacific Century Group chair Richard Li Tzar-kai and FWD Group chair Frederick Ma Si-hang.

The Hong Kong leader also visited an Indonesian corporate with an office in Hong Kong.

Lee encouraged them to continue promoting cooperation between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), Hong Kong, Mainland China and other regions.

He will later visit the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway that is being built by a consortium of Indonesian and Chinese state firms.

Lee said that Hong Kong is determined to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in trade, investment, finance, innovation and technology, cultural tourism and other aspects.

He expressed his gratitude to Indonesia for supporting Hong Kong’s application to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) free trade agreement.

Lee also thanked the Indonesian community in Hong Kong, particularly some 140,000 Indonesian domestic helpers. He said they are not just the working families’ helpers but also their friends. “We highly value their great contributions to our society throughout the years.”

Separately, an “Immersive Hong Kong” roving exhibition is being held in Jakarta and provides round-trip air tickets from Jakarta to Hong Kong to the top 500 winners through interactive games. The exhibition will last until this Saturday.
