Ministry-BSSN cooperate to maintain cybersecurity of World Water Forum

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) are cooperating to maintain cybersecurity during the 10th World Water Forum.

The 10th World Water Forum is scheduled to be held in Bali on May 18-25.

“For cybersecurity, we are cooperating with the BSSN, and in the Kominfo Ministry, we have the PDSI or the Informatics Facilities Data Center,” Director General of Public Information and Communication at the Kominfo Ministry Usman Kansong noted in his statement to ANTARA on Saturday.

He assessed that cooperation is crucial to secure data and information technology infrastructure used in the event.

Kansong remarked that cooperation between BSSN and PDSI is carried out every time the Kominfo Ministry is involved in the implementation of international-scale events, such as the G20 Summit and the ASEAN Summit.

In the context of personal data protection, he emphasized that all information, including participants’ and journalists’ data on the World Water Forum website, is well-protected.

The ministry has not only secured the World Water Council’s main website but also created a special subdomain for participants and journalists’ data.

Personal data, such as passport numbers, which are a requirement for registration of participants from abroad, are protected with close collaboration between the PDSI and BSSN.

Through joint efforts, Kansong emphasized that his ministry is determined to ensure that the 10th World Water Forum runs smoothly without interference from parties that can potentially threaten data security and information technology infrastructure.

The 10th World Water Forum will focus on discussing four issues: water conservation, clean water and sanitation, food and energy security, and mitigation of natural disasters.

Through 244 sessions, the forum is expected to create concrete results on the mainstreaming of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) on Small Islands, the establishment of the Centre of Excellence on Water and Climate Resilience, and World Lake Day establishment.
