JAKARTA, March 19 (Xinhua) — Timor Leste held a presidential election on Saturday.
There are 16 candidates competing in the election, including the incumbent president Francisco Guterres, Nobel Prize laureate Jose Ramos-Horta and former Catholic priest Martinho Germano da Silva Gusmao.
For the first time, there are four female candidates running in the contest, including deputy prime minister Armanda Berta Dos Santos.
The result will be officially announced later this month.
