A cricket fan who tried to take a selfie with cricketer Shakib Al Hasan received an unexpected response from the Bangladesh all-rounder who snubbed the fan and even tried to slap him. In the video, that went viral on the internet, Shakib Al Hasan tried to snatch the phone of the person who approached him to click a photograph.

The veteran cricketer recently played for the Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) 2024. The incident occurred before SJDC’s match against Prime Bank Cricket Club on Monday in Fatullah.
Before the toss, as the cricketer was indulged in a serious conversation with head coach Sheikh Salahuddin and other team members, a fan entered the ground and even tried to take a selfie with Hasan. Irked by the interruption from conversation, Shakib tried to snatch away his phone and even made gestures of beating him up. The unexpected response from the cricketer left fan in shock and despair.

During match against Prime Bank, Shakib Al Hasan bagged a golden duck. Hasan earned wickets of Shahadat Hossain Dipu and Zakir Hasan to finish with impressive figures of 10-0-42-2.
His unexpected reaction to the fan received criticism on social media, with a few users declaring the Bangladeshi cricketer as ‘arrogant’.
“The worst ever star in cricket history,” wrote an X user.
“Achievements nothing.. attitude humongous,” wrote another user.
An X user responded to the X post sharing the video and wrote, “Shakib is the most wrost cricketer in the history of world cricket.”
This is not for the first time when a fan had to face Shakib Al Hasan’s rude behaviour in public. The cricketer-turned politician had slapped a fan in January this year during elections in Bangladesh. The incident took place when Hasan went to the polling station to cast his vote. Being a celebrity, he was surrounding by a large crowd. However, as Shakib got pushed by a fan in the public, he quickly responded with a tight slap.
